About Eta Eta

Eta Eta Chapter is a community of nurses and nursing students in the York, Pennsylvania, area who are committed to nursing excellence!

We are a local chapter of the Honor Society of Nursing Sigma Theta Tau International, the only honor society for nursing.

Our members benefit from the chapter's research and educational events, networking, and mentoring.

Our Vision:

To create a community of nurses who lead by using scholarship, knowledge and technology to improve the health of all people.

Our Mission:

To provide and promote leadership and scholarship in practice, education and research to enhance the health of all people. We support the learning and professional development of our members who strive to improve patient care. We follow a strategic plan to guide chapter activities and a communications plan to ensure that our members are aware of chapter programs and benefits.

Our Membership:

Eta Eta Chapter has 320 active members who have met the membership criteria, enjoy the benefits of Sigma Theta Tau International, and accept the responsibility for nursing leadership, scholarship, and excellence. Our membership includes undergraduate nursing students, graduate nursing students, and nurses working in the community.

Membership runs on an annual cycle, beginning with call for new members in May. In June, membership is offered to those meeting the membership criteria. Those who accept membership are inducted in a formal ceremony in November.

Our Leadership:

Eta Eta leadership consists of the Executive Board: President, President-Elect, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and two Faculty Counselors. There are several committees: Governance, Leadership Succession, Member Involvement, Archivist, Research, Awards, and Publicity/Newsletter.

Officers are elected every April and serve a two-year term; the positions are staggered so that the board always has some experienced and some novice officers. The board meets about eight times per year - all members are welcome!
