There are several student groups that are active in the English and Humanities department. These groups provide students an opportunity to interact with peers who have similar interests and form communities that promote several areas of interest.
Under the guidance of Mary Boldt, Ph.D., associate professor of German, the German Club meets regularly to practice German and to plan cultural activities that promote German language and culture.
The YCP Film Society was formed to promote interest in serious discussion of cinema among students. The group meets regularly to screen movies and discuss topics related to cinema. Their advisor is Dr. Ian Olney.
A chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, International English Honor Society, was recently inaugurated at York College. This society aims to promote interest in the study of English among students. Membership is open to qualified English Literary Studies and Secondary Education English majors.
