The hub for the central Pennsylvania and York College music scene

The York Music Group was created out of the need to keep up with the ever-changing music industry, and to better replicate a real-world media conglomerate for York College of Pennsylvania students to learn from. Simply put, we're here to showcase and produce the best music in central Pennsylvania, in particular what we're doing right on the York College campus. 

To do this, we have five distinct sections of York Music Group with a specific purpose. Each is designed to help the music scene flourish, from producing live events to recording to creating.   • YCP Records

    YCP Records

    YCP Records logo Formed in the Spring of ’13, YCP Records is the record label for the York Music Group. While the label has its roster of artists, YCP Records goes above and beyond the standard record label, functioning as a one stop shop for artists, signed to the label or not. YCP Records is the perfect place for the artist looking for anything from professional grade graphics work, to referrals for YCP Studios, to even booking one of our Classroom Sessions.

    YCP Records’ goal as a student-run label is not only to teach students every facet of what it takes to operate a record label and help these students gain valuable experience not easily achievable after schooling, but to also become a respected leader in the evolving music industry.     York College Music Industry Student Association

    As York College’s longest running music-based student group, Music Industry Student Association's (MISA) goal is to emphasize the importance of networking and professionalism in the ever-changing music industry.

    Through panel discussions and master classes with industry professionals on campus, as well as attending local and national music conferences, MISA, our local chapter of the national organization, is the perfect group for students looking to graduate with the network of an experienced professional prepared to begin their career in the music industry! Top musicians such as Chad Taylor of LIVE and executives such as entertainment attorney Jay Cooper give us inside access.

    York College York Live music events logo Focusing on event planning and promotion, York Live’s role in the York Music Group is to offer real-world experience to students looking to become involved with every single aspect of what it takes to book, promote, and execute a successful music-based event.

    From booking and contract negations, to stage and venue management, to even live sound, York Live is here to offer students hands-on experience.

  • 112 Music

    112 Music

    York College's 112 Music music licensing

    112 Music is the name given to all copyrighted music affiliated with YCP Records and the name of the entity tasked with drafting all contracts associated with York Music Group.  While its main task is to market and license all YCP Records copyrighted materials,112 Music plays a role in the process of contractual negotiations for songwriters signed to YCP Records.

    The members of 112 Music also gain experiencing in marketing, as one of their primary goals is to license music copyrighted under 112 Music to local and regional businesses or groups.

  • YCP Studios

    YCP Studios

    YCP Studios is York College’s brand new, state of the art recording studio and mixing & mastering suite. YCP Studios uses cutting edge technology to record, mix, and master an artist’s work, while also functioning as a classroom to teach York College’s students. 

    Studio Pricing: 

    Rental 

    • $35 per hour for tracking 
    • $240 for a full day of tracking (8 hours) 
    • $20-$50 per song for mixing (case-by-case)

    Bronze ($375) for demo releases (2-3 songs)
