Moe Brooker received the Hazlett Memorial Award for the Pennsylvania Artist of the Year in 2010 at the Governor’s Awards for the Arts. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Brooker has been an artist and teacher for 40 years. He has an extensive exhibition record including more than thirty solo exhibitions and he has exhibited nationally and internationally in New York, Denmark, Brazil, and China. He is represented by June Kelly Gallery in New York and Sande Webster Gallery in Philadelphia. Brooker’s paintings can be found in many major collections, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Studio Museum of Harlem, the Musées de Montbéliard, France and Musée des Beaux-Arts du Canda in Ottawa, Ontario. Brooker has taught at the University of Virginia, University of North Carolina, Cleveland Institute of Art, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, and Parsons School of Design. He is a professor and chair of the Foundations program at Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia and a Visiting Critic at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art.
