Additional features of interest include a two-story lobby with a new outside entry leading to the auditorium and a renovated main entrance from the academic courtyard that would include a generously sized and functional airlocked lobby, soft seating, a coffee bar, department and faculty offices, and a conference room. “The new entry would be more corporate, complete with a ticker tape,” Craig Walton said. “It would be what students would see in the business world.”

The current entry would also be reclad with a more contemporary material to update the look of the facility. “The bottom of the building would be the ‘York College standard’ with a brick finish,” Walton said. “But as the building rises, it becomes lighter, with more glass and steel, more like a corporate office. And finally, the v-shaped roof seems to float over the multipurpose space with overhangs sheltering the outside terraces.”

“When I hear how the new Business Center is described, I envision what students will do, how this will change the nature of the program,” said Dominic DelliCarpini, Dean of Academic Affairs. “We will give students studying business the opportunity to act as professionals in professional spaces, where they’ll interact with faculty and the local business community.”
