Finance Major

The Finance major prepares students for careers as financial planners, commercial and investment bankers, stockbrokers and security dealers, and participants in the fields of risk management, derivatives markets, international trade and international markets. We also encourage our senior majors to consider pursuing professional designations, such as certified financial planner and chartered financial analyst.

Nicole Smolenski Nicole Smolenski ’10 (Bel Air, Md.) began working as a customer service representative for Oil Price Information Service, a business that provides news and pricing to the downstream petroleum industry, shortly after graduating with her degree in finance. She was promoted six months later to a markets editor, writing about anything that influences the price of oil.
