Psychology

There are many organizations in psychology. The following are some major organizations and their websites:

  • American Psychological Association
    This is the largest and oldest professional organization in psychology. The APA holds its annual meeting in August.
  • American Psychological Society
    The APS was founded in l987 by a group of research psychologists. Its main focus is on the research areas of psychology. Its annual meeting is usually in June.
  • Psi Chi
    This is the national honor society in Psychology. York College of Pennsylvania has a Psi Chi chapter and an information site on Psi Chi.
  • Eastern Psychological Association
    This is the regional organization for psychology. Eastern Psychological covers from Massachusetts to Maryland. The EPA holds a regional conference every spring. The EPA conference has opportunities for Psi Chi and other student papers/presentations.
  • The Jean Piaget Society
    The society has an international and interdisciplinary membership of scholars, teachers, and researchers interested in exploring the developmental construction of human knowledge. Membership is open to anyone interested in the nature of human knowledge. They hold annual meetings in June.

Psychology Club
The Psychology Club of York College strives for the preservation and protection of fundamental human rights. The members commit to increasing knowledge of human behavior and of people's understanding of themselves and others, and to utilize that knowledge for the promotion of human rights.

 

Criminal Justice

Alpha Phi Sigma

The national criminal justice honor society, Alpha Phi Sigma, has a local chapter at York College. The organization recognizes and promotes academic excellence and is committed to the professional growth of its members. Students may join if they meet certain eligibility requirements including achievement of a 3.2 GPA overall and a 3.2 GPA within the criminal justice major.

American Criminal Justice Association

Students have the opportunity to join the York College Chapter of the American Criminal Justice Association. Members regularly engage in a variety of educational and recreational activities including brown-bag discussions, leadership retreats, field trips, and volunteer services. All students are encouraged to join.

Criminal Justice Club

The criminal justice club consists of criminal justice majors who are interested in pursuing a career in the criminal justice field. As a group, they are involved in community service, field trips, and fundraisers.

 

Recreation and Leisure Administration

Recreation Society
The Recreation Society is an organization established to encourage participation in career-oriented programs and promote professionalism among recreation majors. The Society provides opportunities for professional development and educational enrichment through membership in and close association with the Pennsylvania Recreation and Parks Society. In addition, the Society strives to develop an awareness of opportunities available in the recreation field.
