Communications
Nearly everyone is born with the physical ability to talk, but effective speaking and communication must be learned.  As an academic field, Communication relates to all of the ways we communicate, encompassing the study of theories and skills that comprise the contexts of intrapersonal, interpersonal, small group, public and mass communication. 

At York College, you can select from three majors within the Communication degree program.

Speech Communication

The ability to communicate with skill, clarity and persuasion provides excellent preparation for careers in education, sales, advertising and business as well as work within health, social and government organizations.

Mass Communication

News, information and entertainment media continue to evolve. A degree in Mass Communication prepares you to apply critical knowledge and skills in commercial broadcasting or corporate applications of sound and video.

Public Relations

The exciting and constantly changing field of Public Relations applies elements of both Speech Communication and Mass Communication. This degree program provides you with the knowledge, skills and insight to succeed in your career.
