The Chorale is York College's largest vocal ensemble. Comprised of dedicated student singers, the group maintains a rigorous weekly rehearsal schedule. Chorale is a diverse group composed of both music majors as well as students from other departments. The group’s repertoire ranges from the great classics to contemporary folksong settings, and it often includes joint performances with instrumental ensembles. The Chorale performs on and off campus and is open to all students with a serious interest in choral music.

The Chamber Singers are an auditioned choral ensemble of 16-20 members, open to all students at York College. The required audition tests solo proficiency, musical knowledge, and sight-reading skills. The Chamber Singers are the college's premier vocal ensemble, performing on campus and throughout the region as ambassadors for the institution. The Chamber Singers will perform at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C in the spring of 2010. The ensemble sings literature from all periods and styles, specializing in a capella works from Renaissance madrigals to vocal jazz.

The Wind Symphony is a concert band open to experienced instrumentalists who desire to develop a higher degree of musicianship and master performance skills. Music majors with a wind instrument as their primary applied area of study participate in this ensemble every semester until completing their degree. Course literature includes music spanning the twentieth century, highlighting British band classics, transcriptions, medleys, and contemporary music. Rehearsal attendance is essential to achieving the course objectives of any ensemble experience. Expectations include knowledge of scales and arpeggios, and proper preparation of individual parts.

Opera and Musical Theater productions are open to all York College students interested in experiencing singing, acting, dancing, lighting, costumes, or any other aspect of the music theater process. The Opera and Musical Theater group performs a workshop production in the fall and a full-scale opera or musical theater production in the spring.

One of the oldest and most popular music groups on campus, the Jazz Ensemble studies improvisation and performs in all jazz styles, including big band, bebop, cool, blues, fusion, and rock. This group is open to all students with concert or stage band experience who want to be a part of an ensemble that maintains an active performance schedule.

The Groove Ensemble has become one of the college’s most popular ensembles in recent years. This group focuses on rhythmic, percussion-based music, and its repertoire emphasizes adventurous arrangements and improvisation.

The Symphony Orchestra is always popular with audiences, and has established a reputation for presenting exciting and highly entertaining concerts every semester. The Orchestra is open to all students with string, brass, woodwind, or percussion experience.
Small Ensembles
The Music Division offers ensembles of varying combinations of voice, guitar, strings, brass, woodwind, keyboard, and percussion that perform on and off campus. These ensembles perform repertoire from various styles and eras, and are open to all York College students.
