Music Auditions
Acceptance into the Division of Music for any of our three degree programs is by audition only. The music audition and application process is separate from the application to the college. A student must be accepted by both the college and the music division in order to puruse one of the three music majors. Please download a music audition application form (above) and read through it very carefully before you begin the application process.
The audition for the Bachelor of Arts in Music or Bachelor of Science in General Music Education is particularly important, as both degrees stress the development of strong musicianship and performance skills.
The Bachelor of Science in Music (with studies in Music Industry and Recording Technology) is more technically oriented; however, the curriculum includes an important music studies component. Thus, an audition for acceptance is also required to determine if the applicant has the necessary music background to be successful in the pursuit of this degree.
All auditions should be well prepared, demonstrating music reading skills, appropriate repertoire for one’s instrument or voice classification, performance skill and proper stage presence.
