Dr. Aguayo, assistant professor of political science, is running for the York City School Board. Read the article and watch the video. UPDATE: Dr. Aguayo was elected to the York City School Board on Tuesday, November 3.
Dr. Fyfe, assistant professor of geography, takes students to Peru as part of his Geography course on Cultures and Environments. Watch the Video. Next year He is taking students to Egypt and over the holiday break he is taking students to India.

2009-2010 Events
Thursday, November 19: The Department will hold its third annual Geography Bee as a part of Geography Awareness Week at 3:30 p.m. in HUM 218 (the film viewing room). Refreshments will be provided and a prize will go to the winning team. Students should contact Rosemary Wivagg (rwivagg@ycp.edu) to sign-up their team.
Wednesday, November 18: The Department's Geography faculty will be holding a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Open House as a part of Geography Awareness Week in the GIS Lab in HUM131. GIS students wil be giving demonstrations on the work they've been doing in the lab and the faculty will be there to answer questions about GIS and Geography courses.
Thursday, October 22: The Department will sponsor a One Person Play by Ian Ruskin titled "From Warf Rats to Lords of the Docks: The Life and Times of Harry Bridges" to be performed at 7:30 p.m. in the Collegiate Performing Arts Center. The play centers around the life and work of Harry Bridges, labor union activist and first president of the International Longshore and Wharehouse Union (ILWU). Watch the Video Trailer for the play.
Thursday, October 15: Stephen Moore, senior economics writer for the Wall Street Journal, will give a public lecture on the current economic situation at 7:00 p.m. in the Collegiate Performing Arts Center. Tuesday, October 13: The Department will host a Humanities Fair with the Department of English and Humanities from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the PAC lobby.

Thursday, May 7: The Department will hold its annual Departmental Breakfast at 8:00 a.m. in the 1770s Room honoring graduating seniors and departmental award winners.
Thursday, April 23: The History and Political Science Organization will be sponsoring a Geography Bee at 3:30 in HUM129. See Dr. Levy regarding teams.
Tuesday, April 21: The Department will hold its annual Honor Society Induction Ceremony at 4:00 in the Brougher Chapel. Students will be inducted into Phi Alpha Theta and Pi Sigma Alpha, the respective History and Political Science honor societies.
Wednesday, February 11: Dick Morris, political consultant, advisor, and commentator, will give a public Lecture at 7:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center.
Thursday, November 20: Nathaniel Fick, author of One Bullet Away and a central character in HBO's "Generation Kill," will give a public lecture at 4:00 p.m. in the Schmidt Library.
Wednesday, November 19: The Department will celebrate GIS day (that's Geographic Information Systems) from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the GIS lab (HUM 131).
Thursday, October 9: The College Democrats are sponsoring a forum on "The Current Economic Crisis" at 7:00 p.m. in the Life Sciences Theater.
Thursday, September 25: The Department will co-sponsor a forum on "Race and Religion in the Current Election" featuring Cornel West and Susan Neiman at 8:00 p.m. at the York Jewish Community Center.
Tuesday, September 23: The Department will co-sponsor a forum on citizen participation in politics and the current election at 7:00 p.m. in the Life Sciences Theater.
