As you browse through our site, you will notice that the Department provides students with a variety of options within two baccalaureate programs. At the core of these programs is a rigorous academic component, taught by faculty members committed to excellence in teaching and to the success of our students. While York College is a teaching institution, you will find that our faculty continue to make professional contributions to their fields. A review of our individual faculty web pages will reveal a solid record of scholarly accomplishment and educational leadership. |

The Department offers students numerous opportunities for growth outside the classroom. These include:
Internships with government agencies, the media, business, historical societies, political parties, interest groups to name just a few of our placement opportunities
The History and Political Science Organization which arranges lectures, debates and other activities for the entire college community
The European Union Simulation, held annually in Washington, DC
Past and Present, a journal of research in history and political science edited and published entirely by our students
The Gladfelter Trust which provides funding for up to two students each year for independent research projects
Scholarship Day, a college-wide event that showcases student work
Phi Alpha Theta, a national honor society for history students
Pi Sigma Alpha, a national honor society for political science students
There are also opportunities for Service Learning through the Office of Career Services or the Student Activities Office as well as opportunities to Study Abroad. Students may also be interested in the College's Pre-Law Society, Student Government, or the International Students' Club to name just a few of the many special interest groups sponsored by York College.
