Student Organizations   Professional Science Organizations

Biology majors are among the most active and involved students on the  York College campus! You will find them participating in various community initiatives such as local park and stream clean ups and health/science education events. They also support numerous species conservation programs.

 Our student organizations routinely plan excursions to museums, botanical gardens, and parks, all of which are open to majors and non-majors, alike. And they host a weekly hot-dog cook out on campus!

In addition to the Biology Club, students have an opportunity to join the Beta Beta Beta National Honor Society and the Premedical Society.

 Professional Science Organizations 

Students in the York College biology department benefit not only from the overall academic experience at York College, but also from involvement with a number of professional science organizations, including:

Pennsylvania Academy of Science (PAS) - PAS organizes an annual meeting where students can present their research and see exciting projects from other nearby colleges and universities. In addition, students can apply for undergraduate research grants from PAS to support their Senior Thesis research.

Beta Beta Beta - Tri-Beta is a National Biology Honor Society.  The Theta Epsilon chapter is located on the York College campus, an event largely initiated by our biology students in 2002.  Tri-Beta organizes regional meetings where students can present their research.  In 2006, York College will host the northeast regional Tri-Beta meeting.

Marine Science Consortium - The Marine Science Consortium at Wallops Island, Virginia, is a non-profit educational corporation dedicated to promoting marine education and research. The Marine Science Consortium offers specialized summer classes and also the opportunity for students to engage in marine-related research at their field station in VA
