Research Opportunities

York College Department of Biological Sciences offers many exciting opportunities for students to become involved in research.

For example, during their sophomore year, students take Introduction to Scientific Research, where they learn how design an original research project.  Working in collaboration with a faculty member, they complete this research during their junior year.  In their senior year, students participate in Senior Thesis and present their findings to the department in a poster session and to the entire school during Student Scholars Week.

In addition, some of our students go on to present their work at regional meetings, such as the Pennsylvania Academy of Sciences annual meeting, the Ecological Society's local meeting, or the Beta Beta Beta National Honor Society's local meeting.

Faculty members are involved in a wide range of research activities and are always eager to involve students. Faculty and student research has covered a variety of topics from questions investigating how to fight cancer to understanding how saw-whet owls migrate.
