BS with a Major in Nursing

Welcome to the York College of Pennsylvania Department of Nursing!  The Department of Nursing undergraduate program leads to the degree of Bachelor of Science (BS) with a major in Nursing. Our curriculum is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to practice as professional nurse generalists upon graduation. The nursing major is built on a strong foundation of natural, biological, and social sciences. Our professional nursing courses include theory and practice in the nursing care of individuals, families and communities.

What makes YCP different from other nursing programs? Read about the unique opportunities you will find at York! Your teachers will be nursing faculty not teaching assistants. Our maximum class size is 36 students. Students have five semesters of clinical experience beginning in the second semester of the sophomore year. In the clinical setting, eight students work with one faculty member.

MS in Nursing

Our masters programs prepare nursing leaders who base their practice on current evidence. In our Master of Science curriculum, you will have a choice of four tracks: nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, nurse educator, or nurse anesthetist.

Doctor of Nursing Practice

The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) is an advanced-level practice degree that focuses on the clinical aspects of nursing rather than academic research. Our curriculum for the DNP degree includes advanced practice, leadership, and application of clinical research.

Come and Visit!

McKay Nursing Education Center is located at 890 Grantley Road on the west side of campus. From the Admissions Departments, you can walk or drive.

Come and see what our students are doing! You might find them researching a drug in preparation for clinical experience, giving a presentation in medical-surgical nursing class, preparing a poster for research class, talking with a faculty member, or visiting with other nursing students in between classes. You will want to see our nursing labs and the newest member of the family, SimMan 3G.

Driving Directions

As you are driving on Country Club Road, you will pass by the main entrance to York College; do not turn into the main entrance. Go to the next traffic light and turn right on Grantley Road. McKay Nursing Education Center is in the second block on the left side of the street. The sign on the building says Nursing Education; there is a sign in the yard stating "Nursing Education Center." Just past the building, turn left into the Faculty/Staff parking lot; visitors may park here. Follow the signs inside the building to find the Department of Nursing office.
