Forensic Science is a blend of science and criminal testimony. It is having science help to explain the evidence in criminal cases. This could include crimes against person, crimes against property, and crimes against the environment, to name a few. Physical evidence is the most frequently discussed type of evidence. These physical "items" could link the suspect to the crime and/or to the victim.
This course will include lecture, discussion, review of sample cases and/or actual case materials. It will also include hands-on activities designed to formalize the participant with the investigation, tools and procedures used by professionals as they seek to solve a crime or to determine if a crime has been committed. Comparisons of anthropology and religion, anthropology and health and the role each play(ed) in the forming of our evolving society, will also be part of this course. The instructor is a well-known Forensic Scientist who has been called upon to investigate a number of high profile cases over the years and continues to do this work today. In addition, nationally known speakers are invited to participate in the classroom presentations.
