We can also develop courses tailored to an organizations unique needs.

Through our Consulting Services we can refer clients to where they may obtain instruction in areas we currently do not cover. or aid in developing programs of instruction.

our classes are designed to provide continuous, cost-effective learning experiences. each class targets a specific learning need.  This may be how to protect oneself against muggers (A.S.S.A.U.L.T.): how to write better reports (Report writing) or how to train others in the use of Oleoresin capsicum Aerosols(OCAT Instructor).

Our courses can be used by themselves, but may also be part of a larger learning strategy. Many of our Protective Services classes help participants to achieve professional certifications.

Our courses augment the York College criminal justice program. They aid both current students and alumni in expanding their professional knowledge.  We seek to assist our students and alumni in furthering their career by providing them with discounts.

We also facilitate networking which helps both careers and professional practice through the infusion of new knowledge/contacts.

To further networking opportunities, alumni may wish to participate in the York College of Pennsylvania Criminal Justice alumni association(http://www.ycpcjaa.org/).

Practice Examinations on various topic may be taken before or after class attendance. They may also be taken as part of a personal development process for certification exams, or in preparation for civil service promotion tests.  Practice exams may be found at http://goose.ycp.edu/~chertig/.

We offer referral to sources of additional learning as part of our programs and provide extensive background materials.

Our courses are available both on our campus as well as off-site locations.

Linkage with professional certifications helps to facilitate long-term professional development.

Professional Certification Programs

Professional Certification programs have increased dramatically in popularity and acceptance within various employment settings.  These programs consist of the candidate meeting a specified experience requirement, passing an examination and maintaining the credential through adherence to a code of ethics and completion of continuous professional growth activities(courses, professional membership, lectures, authorship, etc).

Professional certifications provide employers with a means of readily assessing a job candidate's competency level.  Professional certifications can also serve as a means of organizational development. having employees attain certification "raises the bar" for the organization.

the major professional designation include:

Certified Protection professional (CPP) sponsored by ASIS International since 1977 http://www.asisonline.org/

ASIS also has a Professional Certified Investigator (PCI) and Physical Security Professional (PSP) designation.

The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners has offered the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation since 1988 with over 20,000 persons having obtained it http://www.acfe.org/.

the International foundation for protection Officers administers the Certified Protection Officer (CPO), Certified in Security Supervision and Management (CSSM) and certified Protection Officer Instructor (CPOI) processes. These designations have been developed to meet the needs of security officers, supervisors and instructors.  These programs have been widely adopted throughout the world.Visit the IFPO at www.ifpo.org.

We offer a Certified Protection Officer Review class which  prepares persons to take the CPO exam. We also offer a Principles of Supervision class which compliments the IFPO Security Supervision and Management Program.

The IFPO also offers a certificate program in Crime and Loss investigation which may aid persons in developing investigative careers, achieving professional certifications (PCI or CFE) and advancing with their employing organisations.  The Crime and Loss Investigation Program is also an easily administered means of organizational development for Retail Loss prevention Departments, investigative firms and government agencies.  Our Investigation: Concepts and Practices class compliments the Crime and Loss investigation program.

More discussion on professional certifications can be obtained on Chris Hertig's website at http:goose.ycp.edu/~chertig/.
