Professional Development

According to Act 48 of 1999, "...all certified educators must complete six college credits, six credits of continuing education, or any combination of collegiate studies, continuing professional education courses or learning experiences equivalent to 180 hours every five years."

York College can help you meet these requirements.  In addition to timely reporting for all Act 48 hours, we offer:

  • Graduate level summer courses specifically designed to meet Act 48 requirements.
  • Master of Education courses that are offered year-round and may be taken for Act 48 credit, whether pursuing a degree or not.
  • A wide variety of seminars approved for Act 48 hours offered through the Professional Development Division, in conjunction with regional school districts, intermediate units, and private educational providers.

Additional information about Professional Development offerings may be obtained by contacting the M.Ed. program office at (717) 815-6406.
