Finance
General InformationYork College of Pennsylvania and the Department of Business Administration are proud to offer degree programs designed to help graduates stand out among the pool of competitive job seekers. Businesses in tomorrow's competitive environment are seeking candidates that not only have basic business skills, but are also able to adapt to, interpret, and understand the new world order. The economies of the world are interdependent. It is not enough to know that economic recessions or expansions are occurring throughout the world's nations. Today's business executive must know how those economic changes will effect both domestic and international environments in which the company operates.
The Finance major stresses analytical thinking, quantitative methods, and deductive reasoning. Problem solving is stressed through the use of model building and the evaluation of trade-offs. The Finance major is designed to encourage students to further expand their field of study by incorporating a minor into their curriculum. The minor in International Business is especially compatible to the Finance major because of the shared courses and topics of study.
Career Opportunities
The Finance major prepares students for careers as financial planners, commercial and investment bankers, stockbrokers and security dealers, and participants in the fields of risk management, derivatives markets, international trade, and international markets. We also encourage our senior finance majors to consider pursuing professional designations, such as the Certified Financial Planner® and Chartered Financial Analyst® designations.
