The Recreation and Leisure Administration program is committed to developing students who are compassionate, productive, ethical lifelong learners who contribute to society. The four-year program leading to a Bachelor of Science Degree prepares students for employment in a variety of private and public recreation settings or for graduate studies in the recreation field. Students enrolled in the program will complete one or both of the following emphases:

The Community Emphasis equips students for careers in community recreation, YMCA's/YWCA's/JCC's, military recreation, campus recreation, fitness centers, outdoor centers/parks, resorts, cruise lines and major event management. Students are taught to plan and promote recreation programs with an emphasis on leadership, marketing and business skills. Students are eligible to take the Certified Park and Recreation Professional exam.

The Therapeutic Emphasis is designed to prepare students to work with individuals with disabilities in varied settings including long-term care facilities, rehabilitation hospitals, programs for youth-at-risk and day treatment centers. Students are taught to assess individuals and to plan and conduct a variety of therapeutic interventions. Students are eligible to take the National Council on Therapeutic Recreation Certification exam.
