York Country Day School seeks a dynamic and dedicated science teacher to teach physics and physical science, as well as mentor science fair projects. The selected candidate will join the faculty for the 2016-2017 school year.
Beginning late August 2016, the physics teacher will teach upper school Physics, Conceptual Physics, and a middle school class on physical and earth/space science. The ideal candidate will effectively engage students in each age group. In addition, all teachers are expected to act as advisors for a small select group of students.
Interested candidates should have expertise in 21st century learning within the classroom and knowledge of and experience with STEAM/STEM learning experiences for students. The ideal candidate will also have experience with mentoring science fair projects and independent scientific research.
The ideal candidate should be an enthusiastic teacher who fosters critical thinking skills, engages students in classroom discussions, and promotes active, student-centered learning. Candidates should possess, at minimum, a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate science field, 3 years of teaching experience, and be an excellent communicator and collaborator.
