  • Adjunct Faculty-Club Management

    Club Management - The Department of Hospitality, Recreation, and Sport Management invites applications for an adjunct faculty position to teach Club Management.   • Assistant or Associate Professor of Public Relations (Full-Time, Tenure Track)

    The Department of Communication and the Arts at York College of Pennsylvania invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in the field of Public Relations.  Start date is no later than August, 2017

    As a teaching-focused institution, we seek candidates committed to cultivating student excellence in Public Relations, strategic communication, and social and new media development. Successful candidates will have demonstrable success in teaching a range of courses such as introductory Public Relations, Public Relations writing, Events and Campaign Planning, Publication Editing and Design and research courses. Applicants with research experience in public relations and new media studies, both qualitative and quantitative, are preferred. 

    Additional duties for this position may include advisory oversight of the York College Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), the division’s honor society Lambda Pi Eta, as well as attendance at annual PRSA/PRSSA national conferences and seminars. 

    Requirements: 

    Qualified applicants will hold an earned doctorate in Public Relations or Strategic Communication.  Willing to consider ABD.  An earned APR credential or PRSA College of Fellows membership is highly desirable and preferred.  Rank commensurate with qualifications.  Professional/commercial experience in PR and/or strategic communication is also preferred.

  • Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering

    The Civil Engineering Program at York College of Pennsylvania invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant or associate professor position beginning in the fall semester of 2017 (starting in August 2017), with ongoing teaching assignments two terms each year. Successful candidates will have the ability to teach in one or more of the areas of design, environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, transportation engineering, hydraulic engineering, or construction engineering.  Preference will be given to candidates who have the ability to teach across a broad range of civil engineering courses and who have industrial work experience.  Candidates are expected to demonstrate the potential for:  outstanding teaching/advising, ongoing college service, and professional development; developing undergraduate teaching laboratories; and working with industry and undergraduate students in applied research.  Graduates of the ASCE ExCEEd Teaching Workshop are especially encouraged to apply.

    Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field and have a record of successful undergraduate teaching.  Registration as a professional engineer (PE) or the ability to obtain a license as a professional engineer is highly desired.

  • Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology

    The Department of Biological Sciences at York College of Pennsylvania is seeking an animal physiologist for a three year visiting assistant professor position August 2017.  This position has the possibility of conversion to tenure track after 3 years depending on budget constraints.  The appointee will be primarily responsible for teaching introductory courses for majors and non-majors, human anatomy and physiology, and an upper level lecture and laboratory courses in animal physiology. The ideal candidate will be able to conduct and mentor student based research in animal physiology.  As a student-centered institution, York College focuses on teaching, advising, and student-based research mentoring of student research.  Professional development and college/community service is also expected.   

    The ideal candidate will have a doctoral degree in Biology or related discipline that will augment existing departmental expertise.  Previous teaching experience is preferred.

  • Research/Teaching Fellowship, Glatfelter Institute for Public Policy

    York College of Pennsylvania invites applications for the inaugural Fellow for its Glatfelter Institute for Public Policy to start the Summer or in the Fall of 2017. 

    A joint program of York College’s Center for Community Engagement (CCE) and its Department of History and Political Science, the Public Policy Institute will engage the Fellow and our students in the policymaking process by providing bipartisan research to legislators at the City, County, and State levels of government.  The Fellow will conduct research and work with advanced students to identify and define problems in the greater York community, develop policy approaches to solve those problems, and aim to achieve adoption and successful implementation of specific policy proposals via the Pennsylvania General Assembly and municipal jurisdictions in the South Central Pennsylvania region. 

    The appointee will hold the title of Fellow in the Center for Community Engagement and the rank of Visiting Instructor in the Department of History and Political Science. The fellowship will generally carry a two-year appointment, though in appropriate cases that time frame might be lengthened or shortened to accommodate a specific project.  Among the duties of the fellow will be:

    • Completing an appropriate research project or projects likely to be of interest to local residents, legislators, and civic/business leaders;
    • Teaching one advanced course per semester;
    • Delivering at least two public lectures for the local community;
    • Disseminating the results of her/his research in appropriate scholarly and public venues;
    • Collaborating with students and faculty in other appropriate York College programs such as the Center for Professional Excellence, the Graham and Eisenhart Scholars, and other CCE programming.
    •  Funding will be provided for travel, speakers, and other appropriate initiatives of the Institute.

    Requirements:  The ideal candidate will hold a doctorate in a field directly related to public policy research (though ABD or MPP will be considered).  The successful candidate will have a research agenda well-suited to studying local, regional, and state-level policy, and evidence of scholarly potential.

    The Department of Education at York College of Pennsylvania is seeking applicants for a full time tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor level.
