The Civil Engineering Program at York College of Pennsylvania invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant or associate professor position beginning in the fall semester of 2017 (starting in August 2017), with ongoing teaching assignments two terms each year. Successful candidates will have the ability to teach in one or more of the areas of design, environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, transportation engineering, hydraulic engineering, or construction engineering. Preference will be given to candidates who have the ability to teach across a broad range of civil engineering courses and who have industrial work experience. Candidates are expected to demonstrate the potential for: outstanding teaching/advising, ongoing college service, and professional development; developing undergraduate teaching laboratories; and working with industry and undergraduate students in applied research. Graduates of the ASCE ExCEEd Teaching Workshop are especially encouraged to apply.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field and have a record of successful undergraduate teaching. Registration as a professional engineer (PE) or the ability to obtain a license as a professional engineer is highly desired.
Interested candidates should electronically submit a cover letter with a description of relevant experience (to include professional registration status, i.e. passed the FE, PE, or SE), a curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy and of research philosophy (related to undergraduates), and names of at least three references.
