Spring on the York College campus

Terence Peavy '92

Assistant VP - Enrollment Management at the Fashion Institute of Technology (SUNY)
“From day one, you will be a part of a collaborative and accepting community of leaders and learners!”

From his freshman year at York, Terence was interested in radio and television broadcasting, so he pursued his interests through Speech Communications at a school that was the perfect size and distance from home.

Getting an early start on his career, Terrence pursued an internship at York that prepared him for his admissions/enrollment management position at Fordham University upon graduation. Through promotions and excellent mentors, he quickly advanced through this career and became Director of Admissions for Eugene Lang College, the liberal arts college of The New School. If that wasn’t enough, his executive roles began in 2004 when he was named the inaugural Assistant Vice President of Admission at The New School (NY). The positions that followed were Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing at Saint Peter's University (NJ), and Executive Vice President for Enrollment Management at Metropolitan College of New York. Currently, he holds a position as the Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management at the Fashion Institute of Technology- State University of New York (SUNY), where he is responsible for all enrollment functions and assisting with the development and implementation of technologically based enrollment strategies.

Terrence believes that his undergraduate degree from York built the foundation for his communication and public speaking skills that have landed him to where he is today. To stay connected to the College, he serves on the York College of Pennsylvania Alumni Board of Directors.

Enjoyed most during his time at YCP:The people he met, the professors, and the small college atmosphere that allowed him to grow as an individual.

Involvements at YCP: WVYC - DJ, Member of the Black Student Union, Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity - Chaplin, York College Intramurals Program - Co-Director, Student Worker - Schmidt Library, York College Admission Office – Intern.

Advice to Current Students: “The most important activity I'd recommend is to develop relationships as soon as you arrive on campus. The relationships that I had with professors were awesome. They are experts in their fields and are committed to your success. The friends I made at YCP were noteworthy as well. Through social media and actual gatherings around the country, I stay connected with them and feel so grateful to have met them at YCP way back in the late 80's and early 90's. Good times!”
