REGISTRATION PROCEDURES FOR NEW STUDENTS - FALL 2008FIRST DAY OF CLASSES - Monday, August 25, 2008 (Evening Classes); Tuesday, August 26, 2008 (Day & Twilight Classes)

TUITION PAYMENT DEADLINE - Tuition is due in the Business Office by Monday, July 7, 2008, for students who have scheduled before that date. Students scheduling between July 7 and August 3 have until August 4 to pay all tuition and fees. Beginning August 4, tuition and fees must be paid in full before scheduling any classes. Bills may be viewed online using the YCP Web after July 14. Note: Students registering or changing their schedule online on or before August 4 must view the charges and pay online at that time. Payments may be made on the Internet using the YCP Web. MasterCard, Visa, and Discover are accepted credit cards. A $35 full-time or $20 part-time late registration fee is assessed the first day of class. REMINDER - if you will not be attending classes, you must officially withdraw from classes.
FINANCIAL AID OFFICE - Students who expect to receive financial aid to cover their tuition bills should make arrangements with the Financial Aid Office, (717) 815-1282. The Financial Aid Office will verify the aid and notify the Business Office to decrease their balance by the amount of aid anticipated.
STUDENT ID CARD / FLEX CARD / MEAL PLAN / LIBRARY CARD - Student ID cards, which also serve as library cards, flex cards, meal plan cards, residence access (where applicable), etc., may be obtained in Alumni Hall, Iosue Student Union, on Friday, August 22, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, August 23, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Monday, August 25, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Beginning on Tuesday, September 2, students will need to report to the Department of Campus Safety, located in Manor Northeast, in order to obtain an ID card during normal business hours. All new students requiring an ID card must present a photo ID, such as a driver's license, and a copy of their student schedule bearing their name, address, and student ID number. Returning student ID cards are automatically validated within the administrative computer system and do not require replacing. The fee for a replacement (lost, stolen, or broken) ID card begins at $10, which must be paid in the Business Office. You must present your receipt and a photo ID, such as a driver's license, to the Department of Campus Safety for collection of the new ID card. A second replacement ID card will cost $20 and three or more replacements will cost $30 thereafter.
PARKING PERMITS - All students must register their vehicles and obtain and display a 2008-2009 parking permit hangtag. All commuter students (daytime and evening) must obtain a blue permit, upperclass residents of the main campus an orange permit, underclass residents of the main campus and west campus residents a red permit, and college house residents a purple permit. Student vehicle registration will be held in Alumni Hall, Iosue Student Union, on Friday, August 22, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, August 23, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Monday, August 25, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Beginning on Tuesday, September 2, students will need to report to the Department of Campus Safety, located in Manor Northeast, in order to obtain a parking permit during normal business hours. Commuter permits are also available for purchase in the Adult Learner Center from 6-9 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 8:30-11 a.m. on Saturdays, while classes are in session. The fee for a commuter permit is $25 and all resident permits cost $50 and must be paid with cash or check only. It is the student's responsibility to ensure that the permit is properly displayed on their rearview mirror while on campus and that campus regulations regarding traffic and parking are complied with. Permit decals from previous years should be removed from vehicles and hangtags from previous years should be returned to the Department of Campus Safety.
BOOKSTORE HOURS AND TEXTBOOK ORDERING - A schedule of classes will be mailed with your bill either in mid-June or mid-July from the Business Office. You can use this class schedule to order your textbooks by logging on to http://bookstore.ycp.edu. Each student has the ability to order textbooks in advance and have them shipped or picked up at the store. Fall textbooks will be available on Monday, August 11. The deadline to reserve your textbooks is Friday, August 15. The deadline to ship textbooks is Monday, August 18. The College Bookstore's mission is to provide you with your textbooks in an efficient, timely manner along with competitive pricing. Textbook Return Policy: The College Bookstore will be happy to process exchanges and returns when the following conditions are met:
- THE REGISTER RECEIPT IS REQUIRED FOR ALL RETURNS AND/OR EXCHANGES.
- RETURNS will only be accepted within the first week of the academic semester for a full refund.
- EXCHANGES will be accepted into the second week of the academic semester with proof of a drop/add slip. If no new text is needed, a York College gift card will be given for your purchases at a later date. All exchanges require a receipt. There will be no exchanges after the second week.
- If purchased NEW, books must be in perfect condition, free from any writing, marks, highlighting, stains, and/or damage to cover or binding to be returned in new condition. All shrink-wrapped packages must be unopened.
- Optional textbooks, reference materials, and course notes are nonreturnable. We suggest that you go to class prior to making an optional purchase.
- To return or exchange a book, bring the register receipt and the books to the cash register area.
- When purchasing a textbook with a check, returns will be accepted after 10 business days. Returns over $100 may result in a check being issued to the customer from the Business Office.
- Credit card purchases, if returned, require the original credit card number and expiration date.
NOTICE: The College Bookstore cannot accept returns on shrink-wrapped packages which include computer disks, online access codes, DVDs, or CDs if package is opened. Do not open shrink-wrapped packages prior to class.
