Access Network Drives From Home

Using SSH to Access the YCP Network

The following procedures will allow you to retrieve and submit files to your personal YCP Network H: drive and Facdata folders from home:

You MUST be connected to a network (i.e. be able to surf the web) and have SSH Secure Shell for Workstations installed on your computer.

For a Free Download of SSH Secure Shell for Workstations for non-commercial use, Choose one of the following Links:
ssh windows client for non-commercial use. mirror 1 mirror 2

You will want to "Save" the file to your machine and then install the program. For instructions on how to install this program, click here.

To Use SSH:

1. Go to Start,
    Programs,
    SSH Secure Shell,
    Secure File Transfer Client

2. Click on Quick Connect

   

3. Enter YCP Host Name

Students & Faculty type dragon.ycp.edu to access your Network Account
Type dragon.ycp.edu to access Facdata Drive.

Enter your YCP Username & Click Connect

4. Click "Yes" on the Host Identification Menu

5. Type your current YCP password & click OK

The menu on the right is the contents of your H: drive.
You should see your username in the drop down menu:

To access Facdata:
A. Click Operation & click
Go to Folder...

OR In the drop down box shown in previous step...
     Replace /home/***** with /facdata

B. Type /facdata1 and click OK

You should then be able to move files inside the FTP session window from your H: drive to your local folder as you would in a normal Windows Explorer Window.

***IMPORTANT***
To view the files that you downloaded, you will need the software installed on your computer (i.e. you must have PowerPoint on your system in order to view a PowerPoint presentation).
