Dean of Academic Affairs - York College of Pennsylvania is accepting applications for the position of Dean of Academic Affairs. The appointment begins on July 1, 2010.

The Dean of Academic Affairs is a senior administrative officer, reporting directly to the President, and is responsible for the leadership, coordination and supervision of the Division of Academic Affairs, which includes the planning and administration of all facets of academic program. The Dean serves as a member of the President’s Council and President’s Senior Administrative Cabinet. The division of Academic Affairs is composed of the following departments and staff: All Academic Departments, Learning Resources Center, Academic Advising Center and Schmidt Library.

The Dean must be an accomplished teacher and scholar and be able to work effectively with students, faculty, administrators, and staff. The Dean plays a leadership role in academic governance, as well as preparation and administration of the academic budget. He/she acts as the accreditation liaison.

Faculty - Criminal Justice - The Department of Behavioral Sciences at York College of Pennsylvania invites applications for a full time tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor to start in August 2010. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in our rigorous research methodology series as well as senior seminar and other criminal justice courses in their specialized area.  The course load will include Research Methodology and Statistics, senior seminar, and other traditional criminal justice courses.  Additional duties include development of new courses, advising students engaging in scholarly activity; and providing service to the department, the college and the York Community.   A Ph.D. in criminal justice or a related field is preferred (ABDs may apply with evidence of degree award forthcoming). Faculty - Dramatic Literature and Performance - The English and Humanities Department at York College of Pennsylvania invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position to begin August 2010, with primary responsibilities in performance and the teaching of dramatic literature. The successful candidate will teach courses in dramatic literature and acting, and will be expected to guide student actors and also direct shows. Qualified candidates should combine knowledge of Western and non-Western drama with the ability to teach non-“realistic” performance conventions. Experience directing in educational theatre is expected. The ideal candidate should have a PhD; an MFA with strong experience will be considered. Commitment to undergraduate teaching and to scholarly research is expected. The recently-revised Theatre program is housed in the newly constructed Collegiate Performing Arts Center, a 700-seat proscenium and 130-seat thrust theatre. Faculty - Special Education - The Department of Education at York College of Pennsylvania is seeking applicants for a full time tenure-track appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level beginning August 2010.  The individual will teach, advise students, and assist with the ongoing development of the dual certification program in Elementary/Special Education.  The candidate should have an established record of classroom experience teaching students with high and low incidence disabilities early childhood through grade 8.  The candidate should demonstrate the ability to effectively teach a variety of courses involving cognitive, behavior, physical/health disabilities (CBP/HD) at the undergraduate level.  They should possess leadership abilities, evidence of scholarly potential and an earned doctorate with a focus in special education or a closely related field.  Preference will be given to candidates with an ability to teach a variety of elementary education courses, and demonstrated expertise in early childhood curriculum and English as a Second Language.  The candidate should demonstrate excellent communication/relationship skills and have a strong commitment to working as part of a collaborative team.  York College of Pennsylvania (www.ycp.edu) is a comprehensive independent college dedicated to teaching excellence and offers over 50 baccalaureate majors in the arts and sciences and in professional fields. Faculty - Sports Management (Fall 2010) - The Department of Education, Division of Sport Management at York College of Pennsylvania invites applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning in August 2010.  The ability to teach a variety of undergraduate sport management courses including, Introduction to Sport Management and Sport Administration/Management Practices, is required.  Qualifications required include a doctorate in sport management and sport industry experience.  Preference will be given to the candidate who has demonstrated ability to manage/administer programs as well as teach at the undergraduate level.  Candidates who are ABD will be considered if currently working on their dissertation.  The candidate should demonstrate excellent communication/interpersonal skills and have a strong commitment to working as part of a collaborative team.  The sport management major is an approved program by the Sport Management Program Review Council. Adjuncts -  Western Civilization and American Civilization - The Department of History and Political Science invites applications for part time faculty to teach Western Civilization I and/or II or American Civilization I and/or II courses beginning in the Fall 2009 semester. Faculty will be hired to teach 1-2 courses per semester. Assistant Director Career Development -Full time Assistant Director position, available immediately in Career Development Center.  The Assistant Director assumes the primary responsibility for coordinating the engineering coop program, which includes locating and maintaining sites, promoting coop opportunities to students and employers, and preparing students for the selection process.  The Assistant Director promotes and coordinates Employer Outreach efforts including on-campus recruitment, relationship building and developing employer interaction opportunities with students.  In addition, the Assistant Director supports broader Career Development activities, services and operations including presentations and outreach, career counseling, job & internship fairs and special programming.  Professional level presentation, program development, organizational, communication, training and relationship building skills are essential.  Master’s Degree in Student Personnel or related field required with a minimum of 2 years experience in Collegiate Career Development or Human Resources in the area of recruitment and training.  Twelve month position with comprehensive benefits package.  Preference will be given to materials submitted by Friday, January 22nd.  Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
